Deputy Manager, SENCO and Safeguarding Deputy
My name is Jenny and I have worked in childcare for the past 17 years. After studying psychology for my first degree, I completed my PGCE (primary) teacher training at Roehampton University and took up my first teaching post in London which I absolutely loved. After the birth of our first child, we relocated to Wiltshire where we have family roots and I taught in several different primary schools, including Downton Primary, across all the primary year groups.
As well as extensive experience as a teacher working with children with extra needs, their families and professionals, I also have personal experience of this within my own family.
Our family continued to grow, and I decided to set up as a home-based childminder. I ran a successful business caring for children aged 6 months to 11 years that enabled me to spend more time with my own three children whilst doing the job I love most, nurturing and enabling children to develop and grow into independent, confident, inquisitive learners through a love of outdoor learning and following a child-led approach.
I realised that I had an absolute passion for working in Early-Years and was delighted to be given the opportunity to join the fantastic team at Downton Preschool where I hope I can share my enthusiasm for learning through play and outdoor learning.
In my spare time, I love to keep fit at my local CrossFit gym, am a member of an amateur dramatics group taking part in the local pantomime, love long walks with my family and two crazy dogs and curling up with a good book. My latest "hobby" is upcycling furniture
