Summer is here.....

We hope you all had a lovely half term break.

This term the children will be learning about mini-beasts and summer. We'll be making ladybirds, butterflies, masks and caterpillar necklaces and going on some bug hunts. The children are currently nurturing some caterpillars and will be watching their amazing transformation into butterflies. The children will also be practising for Sports Day and doing a Father's Day activity.

The older children are continuing their activities in preparation for school and are starting their class visits.

The children will be taking part in The Big Toddle on Thursday 22nd June to raise money for Barnardo's. If you would like your child to take part and they do not usually attend pre-school on a Thursday, then please arrive shortly before 9.30am. The theme this year is colour so please wear something bright! Please help your child to raise some sponsorship money and return their form by Monday 26th June at the latest.

Our annual Sports Day & Family Picnic will be held on Friday 14th July in the Downton Baptist Church gardens. We will meet there at 10.30am and start with the children's races, followed by our picnic lunch. All pre-school children and their families are invited. There will be a bouncy castle, raffle and book sale and refreshments, cakes and ice lollies will be available by donation.

Thanks to our recent fundraising success and donation from the Co-op Local Community Fund, we have been able to purchase two new ride-ons for the outdoor space. One is a single seater and one is a three seater trike. We will share some pictures of the children enjoying them soon. We have also purchased a new laser printer for the office.

The pre-school committee AGM was held on Wednesday 17th May. Melanie Smith will be replacing Jose Gilbert as Secretary and Kate Drennan and Tania Verdemato will be replacing Nicki Mussell and Sarah Bunn as Fundraisers (although Sarah is staying on the committee). Naomi Hawker has also joined the committee as an ordinary member. Thank you very much to Jose and Nicki for all your help and support whilst on the committee. We are excited to have a good sized committee again but would always welcome any new parents who would like to get involved.

During the summer term, please remember to send your child to pre-school with a labelled sun hat and sun cream. Many young children are allergic/sensitive to particular brands so it is useful for us to have your preferred type here. Please ensure you have also applied sun cream to your child before they arrive or if not, please let a member of staff know.
