The countdown to Christmas begins...

At Downton Community Pre School this term we are getting creative and making winter and Christmas themed crafts. We will also be making salt dough decorations for the Christmas tree festival at St Lawrence's Church.

Practice for our nativity will start shortly and I am sure the adults at home will start hearing some special songs soon! Don't forget to add the 14th December to your diary so you can come along and watch.

Lastly but by no means least we will be writing some very exciting letters to Father Christmas. We are all very excited about the term ahead.

Welcome back everyone!

Welcome back to you all after the Summer break and a very warm welcome to all our new starters Poppy, Angel, India, Florence, William, Daisy and Tabitha.

This term we are sharing a different story each week and will be doing craft activities linked to that story. For example, we have enjoyed sharing and talking about Julia Donaldson's Room on the Broom and the children made some fantastic wands. Other stories will include The Gruffalo, What the ladybird heard and Rainbow fish.

The children have also started to make their own Christmas designs, ready to be made into cards and wrapping paper for the festive season. Don't forget to place your orders!

Summer is here...…

Welcome back to you all. A very warm welcome to Max, our new starter.

This term our topic will be Summer. We will be making sunflowers, fruit skewers, sun mobiles, kites and sea creatures. The children will also be growing their own sunflowers and decorating lollies. We will be getting active and practising for Sports Day too. We hope you liked the Father's Day cards the children made early in the term.

The older children are continuing their activities in preparation for school and are starting their class visits.

Sunflower Appeal

on Tuesday, 05 June 2018. Posted in Fundraising, General

We are delighted that our Sunflower Appeal has reached our initial target of £15,000 to kit out the new pre-school building at the Memorial Hall.

We are extremely fortunate to have recently received a donation of £3,000 from the Garfield Weston Foundation and £2,000 from the Tesco Bags of Help initiative. Thanks to the support of the ladies of Downton and our fantastic committee, our recent Frock Swap also raised £400.45, bringing our total to £15,222.98!
