Meet The Staff
My name is Becci, I am 22 years old and I am manager and a key worker at Downton Pre-school. I have been studying childcare for 7 years as I chose to study child care at GCSE and then I went onto college to gain my Level 3 in Early Years. I also studied Psychology and worked with college students who had special educational needs. After two years I continued my studies at the University of Portsmouth where i gained a degree in Early childhood studies.
Alongside my degree I completed my Early Years Professional Status qualification too. I have experienced a range of settings within the mainstream and special needs sectors through my study placements and in a work capacity at a local infant school, where I was employed as a 1:1 worker for a child with Down’s syndrome which I thoroughly enjoyed. I love seeing how children learn and develop in their own ways and providing them with resources to help stimulate their imaginations.
I am a creative person who enjoys cooking and sports – particularly netball which I play regularly. I also enjoy spending time with friends and family and going on holidays.
My name is Angela and I have worked in childcare for over 20 years. I gained my PGCE in Early years at Southbank University in 2006 and achieved Early Years Professional Status at Portsmouth University in 2010. I have managed 2 very different Day Nurseries and a Preschool. I thoroughly enjoy working with children and seeing them blossom.
I have recently moved to the New Forest and I am enjoying renovating my idyllic cottage. I also like reading books, gardening and being creative.
My name is Nicky and I have been working at Downton Pre-School for 14 years. I have several qualifications and have been on many courses throughout the years here. These include gaining my NVQ Level 2 in Childcare, Safeguarding and Child Protection, Paediatric First Aid and Food Hygiene. My hobbies are reading, crosswords, watching football, especially Chelsea who I have supported for many years. I also enjoy holidays abroad with my husband and two girls, Florida being our favourite destination. My family and friends are very important to me also.
My name is Jane and I started my career in childcare as a helper at Downton Pre-School when my two children attended. I am an experienced nursery teacher and have a diploma in Pre-School practice, a Montessori certificate and have been on numerous childcare courses. I really enjoy working with children and being involved as they start on their journey of learning.
I enjoy walking my dog Molly, gardening, Tai Chi and spending time with my family.
